An IPX6-sealed body and spool keep water and grit out entirely. The redesigned Slammer drag is better sealed than before, offers a wider usable range, and is bearing-supported for extra smoothness under load. All-brass CNC Gear technology and an 8+1 stainless steel bearing system carry the weight of a serious fish, while the Hydrophobic Line Roller Bearing protects the component that takes the most abuse on a long fight.

The 8500 is the heavy end of the range — offshore casting, big game and heavy bottom work.
